Game Review
"One brand-spanking new totally free game that I'm in love with right now is a quick-play Excel-based soccer game from Crankshaw Sports that is based on the old (also free) "Mean Mark's EPL Challenge 2012" card & dice soccer sim...The stats are complete and accurate, the play-by-play adds real color to the game, the interface is totally dummy-proof, and there is no setup, installation, or tech stuff to worry about with your computer. It's a brilliant game.

And it's free."

NEW BETA QUICKPLAY GAMES (August 2015)
EUROPA LEAGUE and CHAMPIONS LEAGUE simulator. This excel based quickplay game allows for any matchup for all teams the competed in either the Europa League or Champions League for 2014-15. The simulator can play any format: full time, full time plus PK shootout, or full time, added-extra time plus PK shootout. Choose home field advantage or play match on a neutral field. Unlike my previous quick-play games, this game is model based rather than based on league statistics.

2015 Football Simulator (Dice & Chart game)
Instructions (includes all charts)
NEW! NEW! NEW! The 2014-15 English Championship for the Football Simulator! The top of the Championship table was really tight with AFC Bournemouth and Watford finally earning automatic promotion to the Premier League. My beloved Canaries earned a trip to Wembley in the promotion playoffs where they put Boro' to the sword 2-0. A very competitive league packed with many up-and-coming stars.

NEW! NEW! NEW! I've created an excel spreadsheet that will convert easily available club and player data into the ratings found on the Football Simulator team cards. There are two versions: one for which the player ratings are based on the player ratings at WhoScored.com and the other based purely on player stats. The two different rating methods yield highly correlative results: feel free to use either one (or even the mean of both). This handy little tool will enable you to create your own cards, and in little time and with little effort. Just input the data and the ratings will appear.

NEW "USER CREATED" VERSIONS OF MEAN MARK'S CHALLENGE FOOTBALL (August 2015)
I have attempted to make my MEAN MARK'S CHALLENGE football game into a "shareware" game that allows you to input readily available statistics into Excel and have the player cards automatically generated.

Two gamers, Michael Conner and Don Hampton, have generously donated their time and effort to create complete league sets for a variety of leagues from around the globe. Don has developed a crisp new card layout, while Michael has developed an invaluable Excel-helper that has improved the statistical accuracy of the game and will eliminate the time (and drudgery) of rolling dice and updating shot charts. Michael has also developed new professional look to the cards by adding shirt numbers and team crests. My thanks to both for their interest and devotion to the cause!

If you enjoy playing Mean Mark's Challenge and would like to have a go at creating your own league sets, please feel free to give it a try. If you would like to share your work with others, I would be delighted to post your efforts here.

Both Don and Michael have been inducted into the Crankshaw-Sports-Stats Hall of Fame and you can find their work here:
